Immigration Medical Exam Components:
Physical Examination:
- Blood pressure
- Head and neck
- ENT Eyes
- Chest
- Heart
- Abdomen
- Abdomen
- Reflexes
- Motor function assessment
- Women over 40 may undergo a breast exam based on history
- Patients over 75 require a Mini Mental Assessment and a general Abilities Assessment
- Urinalysis (mandatory for all clients five years of age or older)
Note: Dressing requirements may be specified based on the exam. Gowns and covers will be provided. Women requiring a chaperone should make arrangements in advance.
Paying Fees at the hospital for your X-Ray:
Please go to your appointment 15 minutes early. Once you arrive at the Victoria General or the Dartmouth general, visit the business office, and pay for the X-ray before you go to the radiology department.
At the IWK, for patrons 15 years and younger, go directly to the diagnostic imaging desk to pay for your X-ray.
Mandatory Blood Work:
- HIV
- Syphilis
- Creatinine
- Additional blood work may be necessary if medically indicated (for clients ages 15 and up).
